Sports Practices & Heat Related Illness

As the school year begins in earnest, our sports teams have begun their pratices.  As usual, the hot summer weather in Kansas has brought excessive heat warnings in the city.

Keeping our student athletes healthy and hydrated is an important priority for us.  I would encourage all student atheletes and parents to remember to bring plenty of liquids to practice.

The linked brochure from the KHSAA illustrates several important tips.  It also has a helpful heat index chart.  When the temperature reaches the red heat index zone, we will be moving all outdoor practices inside.

I'm looking forward to a great year of sports!
