WELCOME NEW FACES!

Dear parents:

We are excited about the preparations for this Fall. It’s hard to believe, but in just six weeks, students will be returning to school! Our theme this year comes from Romans 12:2 – Be transformed by the renewing of your mind!

There will be several new faces this year, ready to continue modeling the love of Jesus to our students.

SAD FAREWELLS:

  • As some of you heard, Mrs. Jen Weatherman, our 1st grade teacher, moved to Georgia last week after her husband was offered a transfer in early June. We wish her and her family well!

  • Mrs. Virginie Peebler, our long time piano instructor and recent middle school French instructor, is relocating to Columbia, Missouri as her husband becomes the director of a new Social Security office site.

WARM WELCOMES:

  • Our new 1st grade teacher recently relocated to the sunny climate of Wichita when her husband accepted a position at Hawker Beechcraft. Mrs. Beth Ann Ladwig has lived in Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee as part of an Air Force family. A graduate of Murray State University in 2001, her background in jazz, tap, and ballet allowed her to operate a dance studio for a number of years. She transitioned to elementary school teaching and recently completed her MAT (Masters in Teaching) at Lee University (Church of God-Cleveland, TN)

  •  Our new 3rd grade teacher is originally from Abilene, KS and completed her BA degree in elementary ed with a minor in special education from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin. Having spent some time teaching conversational English in China, Lacey Steffen enjoys volleyball and basketball and will begin coaching -- after she completes the plans for her upcoming wedding in October!

  • Our newest addition to the upper campus Language Arts staff is Mrs. Christina Whitmer. She is a current parent of two children who attend BLS. After graduating with a BA degree in Elementary Education-Language Arts from Emporia State University in 1991, she taught in Illinois and Wichita for a number of years. She is completing her MA degree in Curriculum & Instruction from WSU with her thesis: Promoting Student Self-Reliance in the Classroom. Mrs. Whitmer attends Westlink Community Church.

Thank you for keeping our new, returning, and former staff members in your prayers!
